Have you had a rough semester at university? Is your boss at work annoying you? Or do you just want to smash a few things to get some anger out?
Well, this is exactly what Josh and myself would recommend for you. For Josh's 20th birthday, we decided to surprise him with a trip down to "The Break Room" in Collingwood Melbourne. It is exactly what it sounds like, you grab a baseball bat and go to town smashing things until you either get bored or your hour time limit runs out.
For the hour between the 5 of us that went we had roughly 10 minutes inside the room by ourselves and our own crate of breakables that we could smash while we were in there. This company was absolutely amazing, you could pick your own music to listen to while in the room and they also make sure you are very safe, with gloves, overalls and a face shield. They also won't you into the room if you are under the age of 18 and if you don't have properly covered feet which is very fair.
While in the room you are able to smash not only the items in the crate you are given but also the big mound of broken items in front of you, if you wear glasses like myself I would recommend you take them off. I learnt very quickly to take mine off as they continually fell off my head whenever I swung at the pile.
Josh had an absolute ball of a time, since he was just finishing an incredibly hard semester at university he really needed to do this, seeing him walk in there he did start with a bit of nerve but after the first few plates the smile was back on his face and he was smashing things left, right and center. Josh was in the room for just under 12 minutes and walked out sweaty so make sure you bring a water bottle with you so you stay hydrated.
Myself though, I went after a few of our friends had come out and the second I went in I was more than happy to break stuff. I think it was just the adrenalin I got from watching everybody else break things that got me really excited to do it myself. I was in the room for about 10 minutes and walked out not sweaty but I did walk out hot heating in the overalls.
The cost for this activity was surprisingly cheap as well. Nearing the middle of the year we always have lots of things pop up, like vet visits, car services, and doctors and it is hard to go out and spend a bit of money on ourselves when we think we should just save it in case we need it. But lucky for us this hour-long session was only $55 a person for the group we took bringing it up to $290 for everybody so I cannot stress enough, that you need to book an hour with your mates.
The wrap-up: The Break Room
Nonetheless, even with loads of sweat that didn't seem to go away even after we left the room we still had a fantastic time and we both honestly recommend this place to anybody and everybody we talk to and see as we know life has been a big struggle for most of us these days so we all can use a little anger releasing with a baseball bat every once in a while.
Just another reminder as well, make sure you wear covered foot wear or that will really ruin your night when they turn you away for not dressing appropriately.
