Welcome Vietnam and welcome a throat infection!
Starting off this wonderful day Bevans lingering cough has been getting significantly worse so our first stop was sadly a pharmacy to get antibiotics and cough medicine... great start to the day but after Bevan was all drugged up we were onto the day and that meant...
Coconut boats! And hell was that an experience and a half. I was unsure at first since I'm not a fan of boats in general but as we got going and our boat driver was having a good time that helped me have a good time, Bevan and I along with the rest of the group got to wear those traditional Vietnamese hats adding that special touch to the ride. We didn't want to properly spin our boat but after watching a few other groups do it our boat driver gave us a small spin as we made our way around to a section of the river to attempt (poorly attempt) some crab fishing. Sadly we didn't catch anything but it was nice to see how it was done anyway.
We all got off the boats and off onto our cooking class! Today we made a fresh spring roll, a Vietnamese pancake plus beef noodles. If we were better cooks it would of been perfect but it was just so much fun making it even though we kind of sucked. The cooking class ended roughly 2:30pm so we went back to the hotel for a short breath break.
The break we took was for sure but enough but tonight we are doing shit shirts with the rest of our group so we needed to go on the hunt for some crap shirts. We did a bit of searching and bartering to get some really funny shirts and on the way back to the hotel room we stopped by a chocolate shop to try some free samples. Chilli chocolate, mango and cinnamon were our favourites.
Shit shirt night was honestly a let down. Half of the group didn't do funny shirts at all and that's just disappointing for everybody, dinner was expensive as well so we really didn't end the day on a high note. Our restaurant was way to fancy so we ordered some simple Cao Lau and rice before we snuck out from dinner to have an early night ready for tomorrow.
