On the 22nd of April in 2023 Josh and I took my younger brother and my step sister to MelbNova. This wasn't mine and Josh's first time going to this convention we have gone a few times before so we thought it would be nice to invite my younger siblings along for the day.
This was also my first cosplaying at a Supanova convention and of course, I cosplayed as one of my favourite characters from my all-time favourite TV shows, Carl Grimes. So of course it really embarrassed my younger siblings but I had so much fun getting to the race course with my face dripping fake blood all over the place.
We arrived relatively early as a group even though the train was empty so that was an added bonus. We walked around and did a bit of window shopping before Josh had his meet and greet, he was getting his photo taken with Karl Urban, well-known for his role in the TV show The Boys. Josh was so excited in the lineup. Getting our photo taken was a quick experience but it was so worth it, Karl even commented on my eye makeup and that made my day.
After the meet and greet, we went over and got our photos before we went to do a bit more looking around when my step-sister Holly came across one of the actors from Wolf Creek, John Jarrett and straight away lined up to get a signature plus a photo with him, then for the rest of the day I could not get her to shut up about it. She really loved seeing him in person and is convinced to come back with me again next year.
The group of us walked around for an hour or so just looking at the different art stalls and games that were going on because we were waiting for my brother's meet and greet to open up for the queue. My brother wasn't aware that I had planned this for him or even had any clue of who he would be meeting. When we had lined up I told him that he was getting his photo taken with one of the actors from The Big Bang Theory, Kevin Sussman. Â
Now my brother loves that show and he loves Kevin's character Stuart in the series so he lit up like a lighthouse and walking into that room to get the photo made him so nervous it was a great time. Plus just like Karl Urban, Kevin commented on my eye makeup so having 2 really high-up actors comment on my special effects makeup was a big thing for me.
After our photos were collected, the group was getting really tired by this point so we decided to finish the day with a bit of shopping before catching the train back to the house at 4 pm that night. The day was huge and my siblings were so happy and yet so exhausted, I don't think I have seen that happy and sleepy in ages so it was a nice feeling.
