Exploring Australia's East Coast

After a hard year with to many things gone wrong Bevan and I decided to go on a road trip. We decided on the East Coast of Australia. We had both previously travelled on the East Coast but we figured why not. Together the 3 of us headed up to Cairns and smashed the driving out in 3 days so we could take our time driving back down. We were only able to take 10 days off work so most of our trip was sadly driving but the adventure was still amazing!

Townsville

In Townsville even though it was just a short quick stop driving up Castle Hill was worth the stop. Before leaving we went on a walk and had such much needed coffee since we left Cairns at 5am.

Airlie Beach

Honestly even as a stop to stretch our legs and get Krypto out for a walk it was stunning. The views of the ocean didn't disappoint at all.

Sunshine Coast and Mooloolaba

With Sunshine Coast being our next stop we decided to detour to the big pineapple for some very quick photos before continuing down to Mooloolaba for lunch at this amazing burger resturant called Dirty Moe's beside the beach.

Dayboro

Ah Bevan's hometown. We arrived early in the morning and we gave the main street a nice slow morning walk before heading back to the car to eat and head back on the road to the Gold Coast.

Gold Coast

Another short stop over, saw my old Queensland home and drove along part of the Supercars track.

Byron Bay

We arrived very early in the morning so sadly the lighthouse wasn't opened yet but we still ended up getting some very nice views between the rain clouds.

Coffs Harbour

The only thing I know Coffs Harbour for. The Big Banana! A childhood memory of mine and I am honestly so happy I could come back and show Bevan this big fruit. I think by the end of the trip we could make an entire fruit salad from all the big stuff we have seen.

Sydney

Another yearly reminder to never move to Sydney, we were stuck in such bad congestion due to a crash on the Sydney Harbour Bridge everybody was trying to avoid the bridge but instead just made every other road just as bad...but hey at least the view didn't disappoint.

Canberra

A quick stop in Canberra, my last visit was 10 years ago! How insane how time flies by hey. After stopping in to see Bevan's sister and Krypto almost convincing her to keep hi we saw all the sights in Canberra while in the rain of cause.

Gundagai

No road trip would be complete without getting my very own photo of Krypto on the Tuckerbox on this very quick stop in Gundagai.

Albury-Wodonga

With neither of us too sure of which side of the border we were technically on we at least got some really nice views from the War memorial.

Glen Rowan

One of the final stops of the trip. The very well known town of Glen Rowan, only known after Ned Kelly of course.

Bendigo

After a well needed catch up with some of my family we headed into the heart of Bendigo for lunch at Milky Lane and I can not recommend this place enough, the food and atmosphere was just stunning in every way and I can't wait to go back again.

Recap:

This road trip was not for the faint of heart that is for sure. As much as we loved our trip we would say to anybody doing a similar trip, please take extra days off work and don't be the same idiots we were and try and smash it all out in under 2 weeks. It worked well for us because it's nothing we haven't really done before but I wouldn't say it is doable by everybody.
