Guess what! We got off the overnight train at lunch time today, it was a very long 14 hours. It was hot, it was sweaty and it gave me the worst motion sickness I've ever had...
I laid back in my bed on the train for a very long time before we got off, there wasn't anything better to do and it meant I could relax a little while longer.
Jumping off the train at about 12 in the afternoon meant we got the heat of the day and it was so nice to have the warm weather at last. But that also meant we were straight onto a bus, a small cramped 15 seater bus for almost an hour... but at least we made it to the hotel for the night at a reasonable hour ready and pumped for the best banhmi in Hoian!
Lunch was great and it came out at the restaurant so quickly which is always a bonus. We had a group lunch at a banhmi place called banhi mama, it was highly recommended by everybody I knew and the menu being small meant it was an easy decision food wise.
After eating we headed down towards the ancient town to do a little bit of bartering and shopping which is always fun.
Once we had got all the shopping out of us for the day we went back to the hotel room for a quick break before we went out on a hunt for dinner. Dinner tonight ended up being a small family run restaurant called " " and between the two of us we got some Cau Lau and spring rolls which was a great choice. It ended the day on a high note. We sided our dinner with a lovely mocktail and it being mango and orange was very sweet but it was a very lovely night overall. Can't wait to see what tomorrow brings!
