Waking up to the busy life of Bangkok we got up and we walked down the road to a 7eleven for some snacks and drinks because today is a big day. Walking to a few monuments and we get to meet our group!
Our walk started off almost getting hit by a motorbike but after that things went a lot more smoothly, we checked out of the hotel and walked towards the peace monument but the intersection was way to busy to hang around so we went into the maccas next door to grab an early lunch. Josh and I both wanted to go traditional but the flight yesterday made us feel crappy so we opted for a safe option even though maccas isn't that great.

Leaving the peace monument the hour walk began down to the "some" shrine which was very pretty but not easy to get to. We had to walk across multiple bridges, shuffle down way too many tight streets and play too much frogga. (On the way we came across 2 very small adorable kittens but sadly one was injured so every day since I've been trying to contact a rescue to pick the kittens up. So far sadly I've had no luck but I hope to find a rescue for them.) While walking down to the shrine we went past a few parliament buildings surrounded by security so trying to get through without dying was terrifying.
The shrine once we got there was very nice, we only walked around and didn't actually go in since we had all our packs with us and we didn't want to risk putting our things on the ground. But it was still a great experience either way, I'm sure it would have been a bit nicer if we weren't sweating so bad in the wet heat but we enjoyed it regardless.

Once all the photos were taken we found the location of our next hotel which is where our Intro tour begins and started walking back the way we came from originally. When we arrived at the hotel which was called the wild orchid villa. Our Intro group leader Sarah met us down in the lobby and we got talking for a while about the trip which helped ease both my and Josh's nerves. We got checked in and headed out with 3 of the girls from the group, Hope, Grace and Leah. Very lovely girls all from England, we all attempted to take a tuk tuk to a Café for afternoon tea but instead, we ended up getting scammed by the driver which we only figured out once he began reckless driving when we told him we wouldn't go into a tailor for him. Incredibly weird man he was.
After failing to get to the cafe we all headed back to the Wild Orchid Villa to relax by the pool with a few others from the group, we met up with Wes who is also an Aussie, Jess from England and Jaclyn from Germany which was all very nice.

A few hours of lounging by the pool went by before we all got ourselves ready for dinner plus a trip to the tallest building in Bangkok which sits 84 stories tall called the Baiyoke Sky Hotel. The top floor was a rotating platform that gave you a 360 view of the city of Bangkok and the lights were amazing from that high up. When I had done a few lays of the building I went downstairs with a few others from the group to the bar and Josh and I ordered a mocktail each, they were very yummy.
Even though it was a huge day to start off the tour with it was incredibly worth it, the weather was great but I found the air to sticky but it was not a big deal, the walking was a great way to explore a bit of the city before meeting some of the best people in my life now.Â
