To start this trip off we had to beat the hussle and bustle of the big city, Melbourne. We made our way to the airport and that's where the issues started.

Valentines day! We thought we were being smart by taking a late train to Melbourne from Ballarat just so we can relax at the airport and relax is what we did... after a 90 minute train at 10:15pm we caught the skybus and as always the bus was amazing and we had no issues. Arrived at the Melbourne Tullamarine airport just after midnight the 15th of Feb and we decided to take a walk around to see the things that were open before sitting at our gate. As we waited and just talked absolute nonsense i got an email.

This email came up and my heart dropped and I got mad. Our flight had been changed and there was a delay. That was fine, Bevan and I weren't happy but we took it on and went with it. Mind you it is now 2am and neither of us have slept really at all yet, we doomed scrolled and just tried to keep the time going until check in at 4am and boom another slap to the face. Bevans visa was invalid. The expiry date was wrong, it said April when it was meant to be March so that was a screw up so in comes the first big expense. An emergency visa set us back $350USD ($565.55 AUD) and ouch does the bank account hurt. With the visa we had both double checked that stupid paperwork and for it to still come back wrong just really didn't make us happy.

After we spent our life savings we checked in to the one and only vietjet and trust me when I say this is where the problems got even worse... Our flight was meant to leave at 7:30am but the plane hadn't even left to come to Melbourne at 8am so the plane only got in just after 12pm and we boarded and took off well after 1pm. In the airport our departure gate changed easily 6 times and sent us in an anxious spiral of "oh shit are we actually gonna get on the right flight" but that soon turned into "why don't we just go home. I'm sick of waiting" but no Bevan convinced me otherwise even though he to wanted to desperately go home.

The flight was so long and boring, only had a little turbulence which is great but it was very quiet, nobody screaming which is always a bonus. We were only up in the air for literal minutes before the both of us passed out for a good hour, this continued through the flight. Us just going into a deep sleep and trying to talk to each other for 5 minutes before going back to sleep. It would of been roughly 6pm VIC time Bevan and I started listening to music and just relaxing and wanting the bloody flight to be over with. Bums were sore, backs were sore and we both really couldn't wait to get out and eat some Banhmi.

Getting off the plane I had a long wait at immigration but since Bevan had some issues he got a quick pass through since he had to go off and speak to somebody about the visa. After getting our passports stamped we got straight into a 45 minute grab to the hotel where we checked into our room, the room was a pretty decent size for two people and the location being in the old quarter. Very quiet in the rooms but there was a really strong cleaning chemical smell but to avoid that we went down the road for a walk and got just a small dinner meal at McDonald's to try Vietnam McDonald's before going into full Vietnamese food mode.

After grabbing dinner we headed back to the hotel and had a nice hot shower before heading to bed for the night.
