Every journey starts with a step, in todays case a very special leap. On the rarest of days, February 29th, my friend Bevan and I began our once in a life time journey from Warrnambool Victoria to South Australia. Bevan planned this trip and I honestly had no idea where we were going but I suppose that's all part of the fun.

This adventure across the border started soon after 2pm, the sun high in the sky, casting its golden rays beautifully over the large trees that guided us towards the border.

The first stop of this journey was the breathtaking Umpherston Sinkhole, a natural wonder nestled in the heart of Mount Gambier. As we descended into the depths of the earth, we were greeted by a sight that took our breath away, a cavernous limestone sinkhole filled with many beautiful flowers. It was like a scene straight from a fairytale, a hidden oasis waiting to be discovered. Before heading off to the next destination we took turns in using the camera I brought and we took almost too many photos of this stunning place.

Next on the surprise itinerary was the renowned Blue Lake, a geological marvel that really caught me by the eye with the stunning blue waters. We stood and walked around the top of this lake and I couldn't keep my eyes of the amazing hues of the water. But before long we were making our way to last spot of the road trip.

As the sky began to lower in the sky we headed to the final destination of the trip and that was the Southern most point of South Australia. Where the rugged coastline meets the vast expanse of the Southern Ocean. Standing on the edge of the world, we felt a sense of exhilaration and awe as we watched the waves crash against the rocky cliffs below.

Now that the sunset was over and the sky was beginning to get darker we reluctantly started our way back to Warrnambool. The road stretched out before us, winding its way through the darkness back to Warrnambool. It had been a day filled with wonder, discovery, and the joy of exploration, a day that would forever hold a special place in our hearts.

As we arrived back in Warrnambool at 1 AM, exhaustion mingled with contentment as we reflected on the incredible journey we had undertaken. It had been a leap day unlike any other, a day of adventure, spontaneity, and the boundless beauty of the world around us. And although our journey may have come to an end, the memories we made along the way will stay with us forever, a reminder of the magic that happens when we dare to leap into the unknown.
